Entry-point awareness for doors and windows

This door-and-window alarm uses a contact-sensor format for monitoring a suitable opening. It can be considered when planning awareness of a front door, a window or another entry point around a home or office, alongside the existing locks and normal security arrangements.

Choose the mounting position carefully

A contact-style installation normally places separate parts on the moving and fixed surfaces so their alignment changes when the opening is used. Check the actual unit's instructions for the allowed gap, mounting direction and fixing method. Metal frames, uneven surfaces and unusual hinges can affect whether a particular position is suitable.

This is not advertised as a room-motion detector. Opening/closing detection and general movement detection are different functions. Share a photo of the intended door or window so the team can confirm the supplied product's fit.

Alerts and connected features

Choose the alarm around the alert you need: a local sound, a phone notification or an event in an existing smart-home system. Confirm the exact connection and alert method on the supplied unit before relying on it for remote awareness.

• Product format: Door-and-window alarm/contact sensor.
• Confirm the power source and how it is maintained.
• Check the actual alert method and any network or gateway requirement.
• Confirm indoor/outdoor suitability and mounting clearances.

For a door-triggered lighting scene, the sensor and lighting controller must support the same automation system and be configured together. Lighting equipment is purchased separately. Test the installed alarm periodically and treat it as part of a wider security plan, not a guarantee that unauthorised entry will be prevented.
